Unveiling an Unique Steam Game Trial: Controlling a Poop on a Quest to Arrive at the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is now live, and players have encountered plenty of interesting indie games. Yet, one catches the eye for its quirky concept. Titled Unko Technica, this old-school styled side-scrolling game features a protagonist that is truly a dung striving to make its way to a restroom. For those curious, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."

The gameplay is straightforward: just use a single jump button. In 150 challenges, you'll face boss fights and unlock a store to purchase outfits for your fecal avatar.

Execute your jumps precisely, since one mistake requires beginning again. Leap on bubbles to hurl the poop upward, cross fragile surfaces, and activate buttons to open new areas. Collect currency to purchase tougher stages as gameplay ramps up.

Visually, the experience shows off eye-catching environments and catchy soundtrack. The simple visual style of morphing abstract forms evokes memories of players of old favorites like Earthbound.

Although difficult to think of similar titles where you are a coiled turd, gaming have long featured toilet humor. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, players craft grenades from protagonist droppings. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved employ dung as fertilizer. Naturally, this theme shows up a lot in the South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.

Despite its humorous concept, Unko Technica has already earned notable awards, like taking top honors at a major publisher's game competition in 2023. The demo is ready now on Steam, with the final release planned to arrive on Steam in the fall.
