The Madrid giants attacker Vinicius Jr has expressed regret to supporters for his response when taken off in Sunday's fiery Clasico clash win.

Vinicius was substituted in the 72nd min and showed his disappointment by heading directly to the dressing room.

The Brazilian subsequently came back to the bench and, after his team's 2-1 victory, tried to confront Barcelona's youngster Yamal during unpleasant post-match exchanges.

"This day I want to say sorry to all the Madridistas for my reaction when I was substituted in the big match," Vinicius wrote on X.

"Similarly to I have already done during today's training, I wish to say sorry once more to my team-mates, the team, and the leadership.

"Sometimes passion gets the better of me because I continuously aim to succeed and support my club. My determined nature comes from the love I feel for this club and all it symbolizes."

He signed for Madrid from Brazil in recent years for millions and has scored 111 goals in 335 appearances.

But his future in the Spanish capital is uncertain with reports in lately suggesting that Real would think about allowing the 25-year-old depart if they got a good proposal.

When he was replaced on Sunday, TV coverage from broadcaster the service captured him saying: "Again me! I'm exiting the club! It's better if I depart, I'm moving on."

In his most recent message on X, he stated: "I promise to keep striving at all times for the welfare of Real Madrid, as I have done since the first day."
