Cars in Germany's City Found Marked with Swastikas in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Officers stated they were contacted by a man who found a vehicle in Hanau smeared with red-colored substance

Around 50 cars have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Automobiles, walls and postal boxes were vandalized, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they reported in a release.

Law enforcement say they were contacted during the night on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.

The fluid had been applied in the pattern of a banned symbol, they reported.

Police then found numerous other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials report initial examinations suggest the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; officials are currently not aware of any injuries in relation with the incident," they stated.

Municipal representatives stated they were attempting "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the community for information.

A high-ranking official said the vandalism made him speechless and had to be addressed quickly.

"This act hits the center of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the far-right violent incident half a decade ago," he posted on online, mentioning the killing of nine people by a shooter targeting people of foreign heritage in five years prior.
